Ralph Albrecht

Dr. Albrecht holds faculty appointments in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Animal Health & Biomedical Sciences, and Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is the Director of the BBPIC/AMFSC Microscopy Lab.

Lauren Trepanier

Dr. Trepanier is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. She is Board Certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and the American College of Veterinary Clinical Pharmacology. Her research interests include idiosyncratic drug toxicity, pharmacogenetics, and comparative drug biotransformation among species.

Paul Fitzgerald

Dr. Fitzgerald is Professor and Chair of the Department of Cell Biology and Human Anatomy at the University of California-Davis. His research uses genetic engineering approaches to create mice that lack beaded filament proteins. He has discovered that the lenses of these animals develop and differentiate normally, achieving the high degree of structural order that characterizes the lens, but that they are unable to maintain that order with age.

Judith West-Mays

Dr. Judith West-Mays is a Professor in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine and Assistant Dean of the Medical Sciences Graduate Program at McMaster University, Ontario, Canada. She is an experienced vision scientist who obtained her Ph.D.  from the School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. She completed 3 years of Postdoctoral studies at Harvard Medical School and was recruited to McMaster in 2002 from the Tufts Center for Vision Research in Boston where she held a prestigious Career Award from Research to Prevent Blindness. Nicholas Abbott

Dr. Abbott is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research interests span colloid, interface, and surfactant science. A particular focus is directed toward the design of new surfactants that can be placed under active control, the use of liquid crystalline materials to amplify biomolecular interactions, and the design of interfaces with chemistry and topography patterned on nanometer dimensions.

Jonathan McAnulty

Dr. McAnulty is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a general surgeon with expertise in microvascular surgery, solid organ transplantation, and organ preservation. Dr. McAnulty, in collaboration with Dr. Christopher Murphy, has validated a model of delayed skin wound healing for the testing of compounds that stimulate the healing of wounds.

Ala Moshiri

Dr. Moshiri’s commitment to academic medicine is founded on his scientific interest in retinal genetics and retinal stem cell biology, and he pursues an active laboratory research program. His research background is in the embryonic development of the retina. Under the supervision of Professor Thomas A. Reh at the University of Washington in Seattle, Dr. Moshiri earned a Ph.D. in Neurobiology studying the genetic control of retinal stem cells during eye development. He applied these studies from the embryonic retina to replace retinal cells after injury in adult animals.

Christopher Murphy

Dr. Murphy is a founder, serves as CEO, and provides consulting in veterinary ophthalmology.

Dr. Murphy is a Board Certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist, and Professor of Comparative Ophthalmology in the Schools of Veterinary Medicine & Medicine, University of California-Davis. Dr. Murphy has advanced training and expertise in corneal diseases and surgery, comparative physiological optics, comparative ocular anatomy, as well as ocular diseases of laboratory and exotic animal species.

Vijay Raghunathan

Dr. Raghunathan is a Bioengineer in the Department of Surgical and Radiological Sciences at the University of California, Davis. He is cross trained in biomaterials, biomechanics, and cell and molecular biology with research interests and expertise in drug delivery, force microscopy, toxicology, tissue engineering and medical device development for orthopedic, wound healing, and ocular applications.
